Rachel and David Snelling and Lyn Insley have made an enthusiastic start with a string orchestra for 25 Year 5 children. Rachel reports that there is a wide range of ability and aptitude amongst them, but also a strong sense of excitement and eagerness. When the children chose their preferred instruments at the beginning of the year, they ended up with a balanced orchestra, with 14 violins, 4 violas, 6 cellos and a double bass.On May 5th St Mary’s School Choir visited for a concert.
Rachel values the participation and total encouragement of Graeme Gilbert and Sheryll Compston of PEP, and as in the other schools, KBB have been wonderful – supplying instruments and helping with books, music stands and even spare strings!
