Unfortunately we have not been able to source comprehensive information on how our students progress with their music when they leave Intermediate School. The limited feedback we do get indicates that a great number continue playing and some become proficient enough to sit for NCEA qualifications.
The photo shows Deijah Tuigamala (year 10, tenor sax) and Tuputala Auvele (year 12, baritone sax, past pupils of Papatoetoe West, who began learning saxophone through the Tironui scheme. They are now at Auckland Girls' Grammar and still playing, at an ever-advancing level! Tuputala did her NCEA Level 1 solo performance last year, and is now gearing up for Level 2.
