The result of three terms of hard work was displayed to an admiring audience of whanau, friends and supporters at the annual Tironui Showcase concert in September. This year the massed ensembles of wind and string instruments, totaling 300 children, took up a large part of Papatoetoe Intermediate hall.
The strings and wind bands played separately, and each group performed impressively in a combined ensemble of 140-160 children, then items were played in groups representing each year of tuition.
Members of the audience were unanimous in their praise for the children's and tutors' efforts. The standard of playing continues to improve every year, and this year was certainly the best yet. The teamwork and self-discipline of the students was outstanding, and led to a highly polished performance. Well done, Tironui students and tutors!
