Manager's Report Term 2 2017

Jun 1, 2017

We’re already into the third week of Term 2 and all teams are certainly very busy indeed.

Highlights for 2017 so far include the fantastic concert band performance at Papatoetoe Intermediate at the end of Term 1, excitement from Stanhope Road students on receiving their instruments in Week 2 of Term 2, and a most enjoyable visit from Baradene College students at Papatoetoe East School where they toured Year 6 sectional rehearsals. I subsequently attended the Baradene concert at the end of Term 1, the proceeds of which are to be donated to Tironui Music Trust.

The decision to combine wind students at Papatoetoe Intermediate into one concert band has worked out very well. This is a lovely big sound with students really empowering and motivating each other.

It was great to catch up with Felix Nicholls, a former Papatoetoe Intermediate student who played violin in Octave Up last year and is now attending One Tree Hill College. Felix continues to learn violin and is also in the college choir run by Terence Maskell. He says he really misses us all!

Several students at Papatoetoe High School are TMT graduates, and we hope to hear how they are progressing musically since leaving primary school.
