Tironui Music Trust Debuts at the KBB Music Festival
Get ready for a week-long celebration of music! 🎉
From Monday 10th to Friday 14th August, Tironui students take the stage six times – headlined by the Tironui Youth Orchestra and Tironui Concert Band's debut performances at the KBB Music Festival, one of the country's largest secondary school music festivals, welcoming over 4,500 students from 50 schools each year.🙌
We're also performing Pre-Concert at Auckland Town Hall Concert Chamber before international superstar cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason and the Auckland Phil take the stage.🤩
It's the perfect chance to come along, cheer them on, and see what they've been working towards. Here's where to find all the info on the week's performances:
KBB Music Festival – Papatoetoe High Chamber Ensemble KBB Festival Debut

🕐 Time: 10:50am
📍 Location: St Mary's-in-Holy-Trinity, Parnell
Free admission.

KBB Music Festival – Tironui Youth Orchestra KBB Festival Debut
📅 Date: Monday, 10 August
🕐 Time: 6:30–8:30pm session (on stage c. 7:00pm)
📍 Location: Holy Trinity Cathedral, Parnell
Free admission.
The Tironui Youth Orchestra's first KBB festival performance, conducted by Rod Skipp. Including music by Beethoven, John Williams, Dvořák and more.
KBB Music Festival – Tironui Concert Band KBB Festival Debut

🕐 Time: 6:30–8:30pm session
📍 Location: Holy Trinity Cathedral, Parnell
Free admission.
Tironui Concert Band's first KBB festival performance, conducted by Richar Marin Hidalgo. Featuring music by Ralph Ford, Paul Jennings, Dvořák, Pharell Williams and more.
Auckland Philharmonia – Pre-concert Performance
📅 Date: Wednesday, 12 August
🕐 Time: 5:30pm
📍 Location: Auckland Town Hall, Concert Chamber
Pre-concert performance is free admission — the 6:30pm concert is ticketed.
A group of Tironui scholars perform ahead of Auckland Phil's 6:30pm concert, featuring internationally acclaimed cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason (BBC Young Musician winner and New York Philharmonic Artist-in-Residence) playing Elgar's Cello Concerto, alongside Sibelius' Fifth Symphony. Around 40 of our scholars will also be in the audience for the main concert, as part of our partnership with Auckland Phil.
KBB Music Festival – Papatoetoe High School Stage Band

Free admission.
Tironui students also perform as part of Papatoetoe High School's Stage Band.
KBB Music Festival – Honours Programme

Free admission.

What a week to be a Tironui musician! 🎶
The Tironui performances are free and no tickets are needed – whānau, friends and members of the public are welcome at every KBB Festival session and the Auckland Phil pre-concert performance. Come along to as many as you can and help us fill the room.
